A warm welcome is one of the keys to the Wine Pier's success. The Galbois family, owners of the bar and the Welcome Hotel, nurture the art of entertaining. The proof is in the longevity of the hotel and its illustrious guests - Jean Cocteau, Kiki de Montparnasse, Isodora Duncan...
Gérard Galbois' father came up with the idea of opening the Wine Pier in 2002, replacing the Welcome Bar and then the gourmet restaurant Le Saint-Pierre - a reference to the nearby chapel decorated by Cocteau.
Hence its name, the Wine Pier, a mischievous nod to the eclectic poet's visit, the former restaurant and its idyllic location - pier meaning 'quay'...
